Emanuel Ungaro in the Spotlight…thanks to Lindsey Lohan!

Lindsey Lohan’s chaotic public life has yet another negative chapter. The bronze, once innocent Lohan has teamed up with designer Estrella Arches to produce the Spring Ready-to-Wear 2010 collection. In just a couple of months, the pieces are complete and ready for the runway. Unfortunately for Lohan and Arches, the show did not receive positive reviews.

Women’s Wear Daily writes:

“As for the clothes, they looked cheesy and dated, as has often been the case chez Ungaro during the post-Emanuel revolving door of designers. Hot pink, orange and flashy, with an overworked heart motif relentless in its execution, the collection displayed none of the promised younger side Lohan was supposed to deliver. Nor in a million years would one guess that the lineup was designed by one young woman and ‘creative directed’ by another. Glitter heart pasties all around, ladies?”

The hot accessory is the heart pasties that seem to appear on almost all the models. I personally do not understand the sequined hearts on the models’ foreheads. Maybe it is just little amateur me.

Some pieces I liked. The blazers were not bad. I have seen the 80s look on other designers’ collections and the style is making a comeback. However, the collection does have a little too much 80s and not enough Lindsey. The collection was disappointing perhaps because it did not deliver the actress’s unique style which is about taking it one step further.

The construction is simple. One or two outfits consist only shoulder padded blazers over a cheap looking bra with a, yes, you guessed it, a heart pasty! Surprise, surprise.

I do like some of the dresses in the collection, especially the midnight blue with one long sheer sleeve.

Is Estrella’s spring 2010 collection really that bad? If you did not know Lindsey had an influence, would you like the spring line? I really want to know what you think.
